after releases on livity sound sister label dnuos ytivil and cold recordings, batu returns with his own new imprint timedance. the label is set to offer a platform for hybrids and mutations of uk techno, and the first release will be launched with a party in bristol on 20th february, where batu is joined at the cavern club by beneath and transient. the release showcases a progression from batu s first two 12 s, with more colour and melody than his previous work, sitting alongside waves of propulsive percussion.

white asega co-owner jack dixon wrote new curtains after a friend who was coming wildly off the rails told him he was a good producer but his tunes were boring. the original version was really sparse and about 300bpm. when jack moved to new york the parts got lost, so he remade the track a dozen times. this was the version we all liked best, although jack never wants to hear it again in his life. it sounds tough and tropical. our friend troy gunner remixed it, and turned it into something so loud and slamming it will knock your teeth out. after telling jack to stop making boring music, mark kodiak spent two horrendous years working with jamie kodiak on a song they ve called taargus. it nearly destroyed their friendship forever but we think it was worth it. it has brutal weapon sounds, nasty snares and an incessant “yo” that has been described as “annoying and unnecessary”. the artist tom pounder has created a blinding video for it that contains brand new colours. french born bass genius bambounou stepped up to remix the track, taming the wild stems into a hypnotic earlymorning house stepper. it took us approximately 2000 exhausting facebook group chats, four crossatlantic flights and one divorce to get to this point. we hope you will enjoy this record for the rest of your lives. rip ken tulley.

after the immersive techno pulse of qindeks effe 12inch, wavereform is thrilled to present the return of rising lativan talent juras lietus to our label for our fifth release. his debut single des-m marked our second release in 2014, and while the artist remains something of a mystery outside of his home city of riga, his productions sport the kind of well-travelled tones that transcend geographical location to deliver an infectious message. the single kicks off with metallic thump of >steiga<, which leaps out from the very start with an addictive chord line and a well-rounded kick. juras lietus handles the progression of his track with poise, feeding in a rich tapestry of percussive elements and teasing the filter on that distinctive synth to give the track a fluid, psychedelic flavour. balancing these elements out is a warm, undulating bassline that injects a joyous energy into the track, while the soul-stirring speech sample should be familiar to any socially conscious dancer. its a production that satisfies the needs of a party-hungry dancefloor while equally delivering the internal reflection that comes with all great dub techno.

alr001 is tech-house based track features one late-night club cut of pure, padded brilliance. the original mix is a meditative, as it blissfully sways between softly thumping bass and euphoric synth snippets. hamburg based well known dj cess (formally from also known from cocoon booking) re-edited the track for dj s with a male spoken monologue that, despite being a tad pretentious, actually kind of weirdly works. fittingly, its the most dance floor appropriate of the bunch and would slip nicely into a bleary-eyed, 6am sunrise set.
